Phospholipides and adrenaline secretion in guinea pig adrenal medulla.

چکیده
Stimulation by appropriate agents of protein and polypeptide secretion in various glands is accompanied by an increased turnover of P32 in phospholipides; the effect is greatest in phosphoinositide and phosphatidic acid (l-5). To establish whether the phospholipide effect is confined to protein and polypeptide secretion or whether it may also be concerned with the secretion of smaller molecules, adrenaline secretion has been stimulated with acetylcholme in slices from guinea pigadrenal medulla, and the incorporation of Ps2 into the phospholipides has been studied. Increased secretion of adrenaline is accompanied by an increased incorporation of Ps2 into the phospholipides; again the effect is greatest in phosphoinositide and phosphatidic acid.

Adrenaline produces the relaxation of guinea-pig airway smooth muscle primarily through the mediation of beta(2)-adrenoceptors.
The beta-adrenoceptor subtype that mediates adrenaline-induced relaxation was pharmacologically identified in smooth muscle cells of the isolated guinea-pig trachea. Adrenaline produced a concentration-dependent relaxation with a pD(2) value of 7.1. The concentration-response curve for adrenaline was shifted rightwards in a competitive fashion by the beta(1)-/beta(2)-nonselective antagonists pr...

1. When enzyme secretion was stimulated by carbamylcholine or acetylcholine (with eserine) in slices of pigeon pancreas, the incorporation of P32 into the phospholipide fraction of the stimulated slices was, after 2 hours, 4.8 to 8.7 (average, 7.0) times greater than the incorporation of P32 into the phospholipides of control slices. Neither respiration nor the incorporation of P32 into acid-so...
متن کاملPhospholipides and the secretion of adrenocorticotropin and of corticosteroids.
Previous work showed that the stimulation by acetylcholine or pancreozymin of the secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancreas, and the stimulation by acetylcholine or adrenaline of the secretion of amylase and mucin from salivary glands was accompanied by an increased incorporation of P32 into the phospholipides of the tissues (l-4). This suggested that the phospholipides play a role in th...
متن کاملEffect of hexamethonium on the augmented adrenaline secretion of the adrenal gland causable by insulin hypoglycemia.
(Received for publication, November 12, 1956) In view of the blocking effect of hexamethonium on the autonomic ganglia it is deemed desirable to ascertain whether the adrenal medulla is also paralysed by hexamethonium. The previously reported work1) provided evidence that the accelera tion of adrenaline secretion causable by acetylcholine was definitely suppressed by hexamethonium. Following up...
متن کاملAngiotensin II acting on brain AT1 receptors induces adrenaline secretion and pressor responses in the rat
Angiotensin II (AngII) plays important roles in the regulation of cardiovascular function. Both peripheral and central actions of AngII are involved in this regulation, but mechanisms of the latter actions as a neurotransmitter/neuromodulator within the brain are still unclear. Here we show that (1) intracerebroventricularly (i.c.v.) administered AngII in urethane-anesthetized male rats elevate...
